Life Legacy

James “Bud” Gibson, son of the late Lonnie Gibson and Hattie Duncan Gibson was born on December 8, 1924 in Dexter, Missouri and passed away at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on February 22, 2011 at the age of 86 years.

Mr. Gibson was a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter, owned and operated Gibson Lime Company in Dexter, and a resident of Dexter.

On June 10, 1944 he was united in marriage to Betty Thompson in Piggott, Arkansas. Mrs. Gibson survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, other survivors include one son, Jim Gibson and wife Teresa of Dexter; by three daughters, Carolyn Brown and husband Jim of Columbia, Missouri, Kay Clark and husband John of Columbia, Missouri, Judy Willis and husband Jerry of Dexter; nine grandchildren, Michael Hall, Tracey Brown, Julie McDermott, Travis Brown, Kris Willis, Jennifer Duty, Jessica McFarlen, Lacey Wood, and Colten Gibson; also by three step-grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilson Gibson, Dolph Gibson, and Luther Gibson; one sister, Wilma Eaton; and by one grandson, Jerry Mack Willis Jr.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday February 24, 2011. Funeral services will then be conducted on Thursday February 25, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Phil Warren and Rev. Josh Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.
