Miles Leon “Satch” Fowler
Miles Leon Fowler, known to many as “Satch”, son of the late Chester and Ina Turner Fowler, was born on August 5, 1932 in Brownwood, MO and died on March 19, 2011 at his residence in Dexter at the age of 78.
Mr. Fowler was baptized in the Christian faith, a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter. He worked as a printer for the Daily American Republic newspaper in Poplar Bluff and later worked as a construction carpenter.
Mr. Fowler retired from the Missouri Army National Guard at the rank of Master Sergeant with 37 years experience.
On December 20, 1952 he was united in marriage to Martha Frances Griffin in Piggott, Arkansas. Mrs. Fowler survives of their home.
Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Janet Fowler of Dexter; by one son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Gail Fowler of St. Louis, Missouri; by one granddaughter, Brittany Axelson of Dexter and by many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Chester Fowler and by four sisters, Mary McGuire, Glenda Thompson, Georgia Montgomery and Ruth Lewis.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter on Sunday, March 20, 2011 from Noon until 2:00P.M. Funeral services will follow on Sunday at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Dale Rogers officiating. A grave-side service will be held on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 1:30 P.M. in the Dexter Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Stoddard County Children’s Home and to the Dexter Keller Public Library. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
