Fern Fowler, daughter of the late Marion Francis “DOLL” Frailey and Ina Mae Clark Frailey was born on September 3, 1916 in rural Essex and died on January 30, 2011 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff at the age of 94.
Mrs. Fowler was retired from the state of Idaho, where she worked with mentally handicapped individuals. She was a member of the Broadwater Church of the Brethren and a resident of Essex.
On March 18, 1935 she was united in marriage to Francis Doyle Fowler in Parma. Mr. Fowler preceded her in death on August 13, 1973.
Survivors include one son, Charles Harold Fowler of Fort Morgan, Colorado; by two daughters, Doylene Rathke of Columbia, Missouri and Donnie VanSteenbergh of Springfield, Missouri; by one sister, Elsie Sifford of Malden; by eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Dixie Mae Fowler; by one brother, Charles Frailey, and by one sister, Peggy Hampton.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, February 4, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Harold Gass officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
